Karen's Ghia is now back from the painters and some of the trim has been refitted, hopefully tomorrow I'll fit the engine back in and get it running. Trying to find all of the trim is proving to be a bit of a nightmare, most of it has been located but there are still a few bits and bobs that we can't seem to find.
The welding is nearly finished with just a small repair patch and the engine mounts to do, I've welded up some of the trim holes and will finish putting the engine mounts on after the engine cross bar has been finished, the old overhead style engine mount has been removed to make way for this.
I took a final trip down to the chromer's taking down what is hopefully the last bits and pieces, no doubt there will be some more that I've missed but for the moment it looks like all is accounted for.
I've finally managed to locate a fuel injection controller, it is a DTA unit that has come complete with coil, sensors, programming lead and all of the connectors needed to make the harness, the only bits I am left with having to find are the MAP sensor and the crank trigger wheel.
I picked up the wheels bearings for the front hubs this morning, I tried to get some bearings from a bearing manufacturer so that I could fit the Porsche hubs straight onto the VW spindles but it would appear that car manufacturers use non standard sizes, probably so that you can't just go into a bearing manufacturers and buy an off the shelf replacement. This means that I am going to have to make some adaptors, I have the measurements for these but was hoping to avoid having to do this by getting the correct bearings. Anyway I have now got some VW bearings that I will make adaptors for, once these are fitted I can make the adaptors for the Porsche calipers.
