The classic was an interesting event this year. Previously I have gone to Macclesfield for the lunchtime stop to meet up with the mustang and look at the cars, but for some reason, this year we got the dates mixed up and I missed out. I found this out when I finally got around to returning a phone call to my friend who was trying to let me know of the mix up in dates. Whilst on the phone to him it became apparent that the race had been delayed due to an accident, the only info anyone had heard was that a blue mustnag had hit a stobie pole and the driver and co-driver had to be airlifted to hostpital for observation.
One of my work coleagues races a mustang (regular readers may recall a mustang sponsored by the last company I worked for) and entered the event - a blue mustang! Needless to say we were both pretty worried. It turns out that although he had come off of the road, he had hit a fence and was not injured. However, another mustang had rolled and the driver / co-driver needed to be cut from the car, fortunately they were both alright.
I ended up going to East Terrace for the Sunday finish and watch the cars come in (pictures in the events gallery) Debiassi finished in a very respectable 7th position this year in thier green beetle but there was no sign on the blue mustang. After being plagued with a broken suspension arm the first day, the crash on the Saturday Sunday proved to be no better with a blown engine.
Needless to say, most of the talk in the office has been racing related - I offered my condolences to Jonathan reagarding the Mustang (and gently ribbed him about being beaten by a Volkswagen :) )
With talk of racing I really should get the Ghia finished - I would like to enter it in to the regularity or classic touring events in next years classic - whilst this appears to give me a year to get it done, as Jonathan has pointed out - if I can get my entry in for February there's an early entry discount.
...Guess that means I need to get working
