After a mate of mine put me onto a local Adelaide based Scooter web site (www.cartersclassicscooters.com.au )
I found that they were organising a bit of a rally to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Lambretta, after shooting the website owner, Mark an email I met up with them in Adelaide yesterday at nine in the morning.
There was a nice variety of scoots there, both Lambretta and Vespas (which was a good job as I didn't fancy being the only Vespa - lol). After a few introductions we were on our way.
The route took us down through the city and up over the Adelaide hills to Mclaren Vale (one of the local wine growing regions). We stopped on route for some brekfast and finally for a well deserved pint when we got to Mclaren Vale.
With 35 degree heat, the well deserved pint went down very quickly indeed. After Mark handed out some nice original Vespa dealer brochures (complete with amusing picture of man on vespa with goat) we were on our way again, this time towards Noarlunga.
In Noarlunga we found a nice spot to stop and have some lunch. Some of the group took the time to make some adjustments, whereas others skipped lunch and made off home due to other commitments.
With lunch over we cruised up the coast a little and stopped for a nice photo opportunity just outside of Christies Beach.
Afterwards we made our way back to Adelaide and on to the Tiki Bar. (The Tiki Bar is actually in someones back yard in Adelaide - but it could quite easily be in Fiji). We sank a few cold ones and shot the breeze a little before I headed off home.
I would like to say a big thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome, a great day out, I can't wait for the next one.
